Pumpkin Sink or Float & Carving!

Do Pumpkins Sink…or Float?

This is a question that many adults even try to wrap their heads around. Most people would think that pumpkins sink… but they float! As we continue to work on the scientific process, we all made a prediction before investigating with some pumpkins.

We voted by drawing circles in either the “sink” or “float” category.

Most students thought that the little ones might float, but the big pumpkins would *definitely* sink! They sure were surprised!

What’s Inside A Pumpkin?

We talked about what was inside a pumpkin (Seeds, Pulp). Some students were really eager to take turns and stick their hand in to grab some seeds…others were a little more grossed out! We all were very brave and got past the ickyness and all got a nice scoop of seeds out! πŸ™‚
